Dynamite explodes outside newspaper officePosted Oct 29 2009
Demonstrators ignited dynamite outside of La Razón newspaper on Oct. 21 in La Paz. The journalists had fled or gone into hiding before the explosions and no one was injured, nor was the property damaged.
The demonstrators were allegedly upset by the newspaper’s editorial support of big business. Angry protestors claimed the paper’s position is “at the mercy of and in favour of businessmen,” La Razón reported.
Two months prior to the attacks, La Razón published an editorial that criticized President Evo Morales’ verbal attacks on the press. The article said the president’s attacks represent intolerance and authoritarianism.
