David Stout has been working in Southeast Asia as a journalist for the past three years. After graduating from journalism school at the University of Texas at Austin in 2008, he spent one year on a Princeton in Asia Fellowship at Mae Fah Luang University in Chiang Rai, Thailand.

The following year, he moved to Hanoi, Vietnam where he spent a year and a half working at the national English daily, Viet Nam News, as a sub-editor. After his tenure at the newspaper, David was hired as a staff writer at Word magazine, an English language culture and lifestyle publication in Vietnam. He was later prompted to the position of Deputy Editor then later Managing Editor at the periodical before relocating to Thailand to work for the Democratic Voice of Burma as the sub-editor for the organizationís English language website.
